IPL 2022: Major ICC officers to arrive in India for playoffs | Cricket Information – Hourly Primary News


MUMBAI: A pair of top officials of the Global Cricket Council are coming to check out the IPL playoffs in Kolkata and Ahmedabad in the coming week, at the invitation of the BCCI, in essence to “focus on the impending media legal rights of the ICC” with their counterparts in the Indian Board.
“Greg Barclay, the ICC chairman, will show up at the Qualifier 1 (Could 24) and Eliminator (May well 25) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, though Geoff Allardice, the Chief Executive Officer of the ICC, will be present for the duration of the Qualifier 2 on May possibly 27 and the final on May 29 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. They are most likely to discuss the approaching media rights of the ICC with the BCCI officials during their trip,” a source in the know of developments said.
The BCCI is in the method of selling its IPL media rights for the 2023-27 cycle. The existing 8-yr ICC and six-calendar year BCCI media rights cycle will conclude in 2023.
Thanks to Covid, this is the initial time in a few yrs that the IPL playoffs are going on in India.
