KYIV: Russia’s defence minister suggests Moscow’s forces have taken management of the previous main Ukrainian-held town in Ukraine’s Luhansk province.
Defence minister Sergei Shoigu instructed President Vladimir Putin on Sunday that “as a final result of profitable armed service functions, the armed forces of the Russian Federation, collectively with models of the People’s Militia of the Luhansk People’s Republic, have proven comprehensive management over the city of Lysychansk,” Russian information organizations claimed.
Ukrainian fighters spent months striving to protect Lysychansk and to keep it from slipping to Russia, as neighbouring Sievierodonetsk did a 7 days ago. A presidential adviser predicted late on Saturday that the city’s potential could be determined inside days.
