Kansas City Royals Shorthanded on Toronto Trip

10 Kansas City Royals players will be absent from the series in Toronto due to the immunisation requirement.

On Wednesday, Mike Matheny announced that 10 players would not accompany the club to Toronto for their four-game series.

Anyone travelling to Canada must have had two doses of the COVID-19 vaccination, the second of which must have been administered at least 14 days before to travel.

Whit Merrifield, All-Star Andrew Benintendi, Hunter Dozier, Cam Gallagher, MJ Melendez, Brady Singer, Brad Keller, Kyle Isbel, Michael A. Taylor and Dylan Coleman will all be placed on the restricted list for the series.

To flesh up their roster for the series, the Royals will bring up minor league players from their AAA and AA affiliates.

The four-game series between the Royals and Blue Jays begins on Thursday and ends on Sunday.
